CA firm of repute based out of Kolkata and inn business for last 12 years. In addition to core
auditing practices, the firm has branched out in the fields of corporate laws, taxation, investigation
audits, accounting, corporate and management consultancy, project finance, investment counselling,
equity research and allied activities.

Position: Research Analyst

Job Description:

1.      The candidate needs to write reports of about 800 to 1000 words related to companies which trade in the US Stock Exchanges, namely NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX.

2.      The report can be about a company’s earnings release, valuation in comparison to its industry peers or even on latest happenings in the respective market space.

3.      The report can be viewed at the first step towards Equity Research and thus the candidate needs to approach the job with a similar mindset.

4.      In each report, the candidate needs to mention about at least three and at most five companies which trades in the mentioned exchanges. For example, if someone is writing about Apple, he or she
can also talk about Google, Nokia, Microsoft and BlackBerry. Each of these companies trade in NYSE or NASDAQ and have tickers.

5.      It’s not necessary for the candidate to include as many tickers as possible. He or she needs to add only such tickers which have relevance with the report’s topic. Adding companies just for the sake will result in drive-byes only and those won’t be accepted.

6.      The report needs to have an introduction and a conclusion where the writer will express his/her personal opinion.

7.      If required, tables and charts and images can be added, provided they blend into the discussion.

8.      The candidate needs to write the report performing secondary research only – using Google search engine and other finance websites such as Bloomberg, Reuters, CNBC, MarketWatch, etc.

9.      While working on the report, the candidate must keep a record of all the sources of information used for the report.

10.  The candidate needs to give a source the due credit for the information.

11.  The candidate can never perform plagiarism. Instances of the same will be treated with stern actions.

Qualification and skill set:

Minimum eligibility: B.Com / BBA
Preferred: Students pursuing CA/CA inter; MBA (finance); M.Com or any other commensurate courses
Should be conversant with basic accounts and finance concepts with good command over English
Should be self motivated and capable of working independently

Expectation:

At least 5 reports in a week translating to around 20 reports in a month

Candidates would be working from home and would be required send over the completed reports through e-mail. Reports should be sent over immediately on completion and not bunched. Editors would provide
feedback on the reports through e-mails/ conference calls. There would also be some in person discussions depending on issues at hand

Compensation:
Rs 500 per completed report Any reworks required would not be counted as a separate report. In
case any report is completely rejected, no payments would be made.

We encourage proactive candidates. Any outstanding contribution in terms of quality and quantity would be suitably rewarded.

Selection criteria:

A report on any ONE of the topics below would need to be submitted.
1.      The growing competition in the smartphone market space (US and worldwide) and its impact on the big players such as Apple, BlackBerry, Nokia and on the emerging players
2.      Likely impact of a cheaper iPhone on Apple and its peers
3.      A competition analysis for McDonald’s
4.      A peer analysis of Tesla Motors against General Motors, Toyota Motors and Ford
